Of note, Dewar Drive and Elk Street in Rock Springs will both get a mill and overlay in Fiscal Year 2017. The Dewar Drive Project was originally slated for 2021, but WYDOT moved the project up after seeing the deterioration that took place over the spring.

Stephanie Harsha, WYDOT Public Relations Specialist, said the State Transportation Improvement Program, or STIP, is a very fluid document and changes over the years as WYDOT continues to evaluate which roads are priorities and to accommodate any budget constraints.

“Dewar Drive is a perfect example of that,” said Harsha. “As priorities change and roads deteriorate quicker than expected we do shuffle those projects around and move them up as needed.”
