The Rock Springs Police Department is currently investigating vandalism at the Rock Springs High School in which graffiti was painted on the school’s front doors.
According to RSPD spokesperson Alison Deters, the graffiti was discovered by an officer on patrol at about 3 a.m. Friday morning. Police were able to contact school officials and the graffiti was removed. Deters said cleanup of the vandalism was completed between 5:30 a.m. and 7 a.m.
The graffiti was painted in black spray paint and contained hateful speech and profanities.
“It’s inappropriate and certainly a statement that goes against everything that we at the high school and as a community stand for,” Rock Springs High School Principal Darrin Peppard said.
Deters said investigators are working with the school to obtain surveillance and other potentially useful information.
Principal Peppard said he could not comment on the investigation or what information the school was able to provide.
There are currently no suspects in the case and it remains under investigation.
