Registration Open For RSPD Junior Police Academy

This year will mark the second year of Rock Springs Police Department’s Junior Police Academy.

Starting at the end of June, RSPD will begin holding week long sessions of the Junior Police Academy for students going into 5^th, 6^th, and 7^th grade for the 2016-2017 school year.

The academy simulates actual law enforcement training for students from Sweetwater County School District #1. It exposes the students to positive, risk-reduction activities to decrease the prevalence and initiation of violence and drug and alcohol use among the children in our community.

School Resource Officer Tracy Frisbee will be sending registration forms home with students starting April 20^th. Forms for interested students should be returned to Officer Frisbee on or before May 6^th.

RSPD says the academy classes fill up quickly and the dates will be filled in the order that the registration forms are received.

Below are the dates for the 2016 Junior Police Academy

(All academy classes run Tuesday to Friday; 9 am – 4 pm; lunch is provided by RSPD)

• June 21^st – June 24^th
• June 29^th – July 1^st
• July 5^th – July 8^th
• July 12^th – July 15^th
• July 19^th – July 22^nd
• July 26 – July 29^th
• August 9^th – August 12^th
