Two people were found dead in a Rock Springs home after the Rock Springs Fire Department extinguished a fire there early this morning.
According to a release from RSPD, the possible structure fire was initially reported on the 800 block of Rhode Island Avenue at about 4:27 a.m. Wednesday morning. As Rock Springs Fire Department crews were dispatched, they were notified the fire was actually on the 800 block of Connecticut Avenue.
Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke conditions. Rock Springs Fire Fighters made entry and extinguished the blaze.
Fire Chief Jim Wamsley reports that two people were found dead. The names of the deceased have not been released.
Chief Wamsley said the cause of death is still under investigation as is the fire. Due to the ongoing investigation, no further information can be released at this time.
Entities cooperating in the investigation include the Wyoming State Fire Marshal’s Office and agencies of the local Fire Investigation Task Force: Rock Springs Fire Department, Rock Springs Police Department, and Sweetwater County Fire District #1.
