United States Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) spoke at the banquet for the Muley Fanatic Foundation Southwest Wyoming Chapter in Rock Springs on Saturday.
Barrasso spoke of the recent passing of Justice Antonin Scalia and of how much the justice meant to Wyoming.
Below are some of the comments made by Barrasso:
In the last couple of week, we’ve lost a great friend in Justice Scalia.
Justice Scalia loved Wyoming. He would come here hunting, and then he would go to the University of Wyoming and then he would speak to students… talk about the constitution and talk about our Second Amendment rights. He wrote the definitive piece on why the Second Amendment has to do with individual rights.
With his death, the President want to appoint another person to the Supreme Court. And I’ll tell you, I voted against both of Barrack Obama’s nominees to the Supreme Court and a lame-duck President is not going to make a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court.”
