Prospective Students And Parents Invited To WWCC Senior Day March 17

ROCK SPRINGS —High school seniors from southwest Wyoming and their families have the opportunity to tour the Rock Springs campus of Western Wyoming Community College and attend a college fair during Senior Day on March 17, beginning at 10 a.m.RS Airport

At Senior Day, high school seniors will meet with faculty, tour residence halls, speak with financial aid representatives, and participate in a variety of departmental scholarship competitions and auditions.

“This just gives students the unique opportunity to visit with friendly faculty, staff, and students in order to show them what Western Wyoming is all about,” said Kurtis Wilkinson, WWCC Admissions Counselor.

Parents will attend their own sessions and registration/orientation programs, including a session on “Parenting Your College Freshman.”

Check-in begins at 10 a.m. and programming begins at 10:30 a.m. Free lunches for Senior Day guests will be available at 12 p.m.

Advance registration is recommended. Go to www.westernwyoming.edu/seniorday to register.

There will also be fun contests and activities for students in Rushmore Gymnasium during the day, including a balloon drop at 11:55 AM. Wilkinson says the balloon drop features about 500 balloons and provides the opportunity to win prizes from local businesses.

In addition, seniors will be able to audition and compete for scholarships beginning after lunch. Auditions and competitions for scholarships include the following disciplines: art and 3-D art (please bring a portfolio), computer science, dance, exercise science, music, theatre, technology and industry, and forensics – speech and debate.

Senior Day features a passport theme this year. Each department will have a stamp, and students are encouraged to collect as many stamps as they can in their passport booklet. Those booklets will then prvide the chance to win a grand prize at the end of the college fair.

Anyone interested in scholarship opportunities during the event are asked to contact Wilkinson at 307-382-1790 or [email protected], preferably by March 16.

Wilkinson said about 250 seniors attended last year’s event, and organizers are hoping to double the attendance this year.
