The Organization Committee of the Rock Springs Main Street/URA recently announced their May Volunteer of the Month – Lupita Pacheco. Lupita chaired the 3rd annual Kentucky Derby Party, Hats and Horses, and has served on the committee for the event for the past three years. She’s also just volunteered as a member of the Design Committee.
Lupita and her family have lived in Rock Springs for three and a half years.
“I enjoy volunteering with the community and meeting more people. This was my third year with Hats and Horses. I still love that I get to wear a fancy hat and I ‘will’ go to the actual Derby one day, until then, I have fun helping decorate and plan a fundraising party to view it!” Lupita said in a press release from URA.
Her interest in the Rock Springs Main Street/URA goes further than just events and parties. She likes old construction and buildings.
Lupita said, “The idea of updating, remodeling and keeping downtown areas around is an important part of this towns’ history. I am for whatever I can do to help keep it.”
Lupita has been married to Steve Pacheco for almost 7 years. They have three kids, Steban who is five, Tasiyan who is four, and Ivan who is one. She quit her office job of five years with Chesapeake Energy in Hobbs, NM to move here at the end of November in 2012. Her husband took a job with Wyoming Machinery in April of 2012 and is currently a Diesel Mechanic.
