The Green River Beautification Committee, a committee of the Sweetwater County Joint Travel and Tourism Board, held a planting event on June 22nd, 2016. The committee started beautifying and landscaping the large grass area located on Flaming Gorge Way.
The landscaping project, located at the “cow pasture area” in Green River, is funded through Wyoming Department of Transportation and Exxon/Mobil grants. The development of the area includes spruce, pine, & maple trees, rocks, and other materials that will breathe life into this section of Green River. Beautification Committee volunteers and City of Green River Parks and Recreation department staff participated in the planting of the area; this culminating effort was guided by Jenissa Meredith (Executive Director, Sweetwater County Joint Travel and Tourism Board), Brad Raney (Director of Parks and Recreation, City of Green River), and Misty Springer (Public Affairs and Grants Administrator, City of Green River).
“Enhancing the visual appeal of our city gateways provides a welcoming first impression for visitors and creates a sense of pride for residents as well.” stated Jenissa Meredith, Executive Director, Sweetwater County Joint Travel and Tourism Board.
The committee is focused on beautifying Green River through projects that benefit visitors and residents of Green River. The “cow pasture area” landscaping project is the first of many projects that the Green River Beautification Committee has planned.
