Laramie– Pat Larson, who was a standout defensive tackle for the Wyoming Cowboy football team from 1993-96, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016, following a courageous battle with leukemia.
It has been announced by his family that a celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Plum Creek Church, 960 South Interstate 25 in Castle Rock, Colo. Casual attire is preferred for the ceremony. Memorials will go towards a scholarship in Larson’s name. Larson was part of one of the most successful periods of Wyoming Football history in the mid-1990s. His senior season of 1996, he helped lead Wyoming to the Western Athletic Conference Pacific Division Championship and a spot in the inaugural WAC Championship Game. The ‘96 Cowboys ended the season with a 10-2 record and were ranked No. 22 in the final national polls. Larson earned Second Team All-WAC honors as a senior. He was also a redshirt freshman on the 1993 Wyoming team that won a share of the WAC regular-season championship and went on to play in the Copper Bowl in Tucson, Ariz.
A native of Stillwater, Minn., he was born June 24, 1974. A memorial celebration in his hometown of Stillwater, Minn., will be conducted at a later date.
