Beaver Creek Fire Continues To Grow

A fire near the Colorado-Wyoming border continued to grow Wednesday, up to over 5,300 acres.EZ_Cash

The Beaver Creek Fire grew from 3,800 acres in one day with winds continuing to push the fire east.

The fire is burning near the Wyoming/Colorado border and was first reported Sunday afternoon. It’s located approximately 15 miles northwest of Walden, Colo. and two miles south of the Colorado/Wyoming state line.

One minor firefighter injury has been reported, and about 40 residents/cabins are threatened by the blaze.

Evacuations for Twisty Park and Pearl are still in place.

Area closures include: Big Creek Lakes Recreation Area, Forest Road 600, east of the Mount Zirkel Wilderness boundary and south of Forest Road 681, and south of Forest Road 80.

The cause of the Beaver Creek Fire is under investigation.
