School District Warns of ‘Sharpie Shock Challenge’

Sweetwater School District #1 is warning parents and guardians of an emerging trend.300x250_RMB

The trend is called “Sharpie Shock Challenge.” In this “challenge” people are using a dark marker to color a square on their body (often on the wrist) and then using a camera flash to “shock themselves”

The apparent shock is not a shock at all, but may be a burning of the skin. Repeated exposure can cause skin damage.

The School District is informing the public and addressing concerns as a precautionary measure for the safety of students.
