A Louisiana woman died in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 80 near Arlington on Sunday.
Sherry K. Ohmer, 51 of Morgan City, Louisiana, died in a crash that occurred around mile post 267 on I-80 westbound approximately five miles west of Arlington, according to Wyoming Highway Patrol. The crash occurred at about 8:17 a.m. on Sunday.
Ohmer was the front seat passenger in a 2017 Freightliner commercial truck driven by 57-year-old Richard Huff of Conyers, Georgia.
WHP says road conditions were slick with slush and snow buildup, and the speed limit had been reduced to 55 mph on that section of I-80.
A separate crash involving two vehicles blocked all westbound lanes, and a nine-vehicle chain reaction crash followed.
The Freightliner that Ohmer and Huff were in was the last vehicle in the nine-vehicle crash.
The truck collided with another commercial truck in the pile up, resulting in Ohmer sustaining fatal injuries on scene.
Ohmer and Huff were both wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Ohmer marked the 14th highway death in Wyoming in 2016 compared to 36 at the same time last year.
Richard Huff was cited for careless driving.
