(Rock Springs, Wyo. – January 26, 2016) A new canine deputy recently joined the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office.
Jara, a two-year-old female Belgian Malinois is working as a drug detection and patrol dog.
Jara and her partner, Deputy Sheriff Derek Morrell, have so far completed two weeks of intensive training at K9 Working Dogs International in Longford, Kansas.
Malinois are used all over the world by law enforcement, security, and military units.
According to a release fro Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office, there are Malinois on the U.S. Secret Service’s White House Detail, and a 60-pound male named Cairo was part of the Navy SEAL operation that killed Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan, in 2011.
